AI Scanner
The AI Scanner uses AI vision to identify assets from photos. Take a picture of any asset and the AI will suggest its name, type, manufacturer, model, serial number, and other details — so you can add it to your inventory in seconds.
Open the AI Scanner from the Dashboard or navigate to it from the main menu.
Taking Photos
The scanner has two input modes:
| Mode | How to use |
|---|---|
| Camera | Tap Camera to activate your device's camera, then tap the shutter button to capture a photo. Use the torch button in low-light conditions. Tap the viewfinder to focus on a specific area |
| Photo | Tap Photo to select existing images from your device |
You can capture up to 3 photos of the same asset from different angles. Additional photos help the AI identify the asset more accurately.
Analysis
After capturing one or more photos:
- The AI performs a background triage to assess how confidently it can identify the asset. You'll see one of these messages:
- A confident identification such as "This looks like a Dell OptiPlex 7090"
- A lower-confidence suggestion with a recommendation to take additional photos
- If the AI suggests additional photos (e.g. a back label or serial number plate), tap the Camera or Photo button to add more.
- Tap Analyze to run the full analysis. The AI returns suggestions for each asset field.
Reviewing Suggestions
After analysis, each suggested field displays an acceptance strip:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Accept (checkmark) | Applies the AI suggestion to that field |
| Reject (X) | Dismisses the AI suggestion for that field |
| Accept All | Applies all AI suggestions at once |
| Dismiss All | Clears all AI suggestions at once |
You can manually edit any field regardless of whether you accepted or dismissed the suggestion.
Creating the Asset
Once you've reviewed the suggestions, fill in the asset details:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Asset Name | Required. Pre-filled from AI suggestions if accepted |
| Location | Required. Select from your configured locations |
| Asset Type | Optional. Select from your configured asset types |
| Status | Optional. The asset's initial status |
| Condition | Optional. The asset's current condition |
| Asset Number | Optional. Enter manually or tap the barcode icon to scan a barcode |
| Notes | Optional. Any additional information about the asset |
- Fill in the required fields (Asset Name and Location).
- Review and adjust any optional fields.
- Tap Save to create the asset.
Your captured photos are automatically attached to the new asset record. After saving, you can tap Scan Another to capture a new asset or return to the Dashboard.
Tips for Best Results
- Take photos from multiple angles — front, back, and any visible labels or nameplates
- Ensure good lighting; use the torch toggle in low-light conditions
- Include any visible serial number plates, manufacturer logos, or product labels
- Hold the camera steady and use tap-to-focus for sharp images
Usage Limits
Each plan includes a daily allowance of AI calls:
| Plan | Daily AI calls |
|---|---|
| Trial | 500 |
| Paid | 2,000 |
What counts as an AI call?
Each tap of Analyze counts as one AI call against your daily limit. The background triage that runs automatically after capturing photos also counts as one call. Limits reset daily.
