Barcode Scanner
The barcode scanner lets you look up and manage assets from your mobile device. It runs directly in your web browser with no app to install.
Tap Scan Asset Barcode on the dashboard, or navigate to the scanner from the main menu.
Scanning
The scanner has two input modes, toggled with the buttons at the top:
| Mode | How to use |
|---|---|
| Camera | Tap Start Camera and point your device's camera at a barcode. Use the flashlight button in low-light conditions |
| Keyboard | Type or paste the barcode number and tap Find. Also works with USB and Bluetooth wedge scanners — the barcode is entered and submitted automatically |
When an asset is found, you'll see its name, number, status, custodian, condition, return due date, and service status. If the barcode is not recognized, verify the number matches an asset in the system.
Operations
After scanning, action buttons appear based on the asset's current state:

| Check In | Asset is checked out | Returns the asset from its current custodian |
